The 9700
series is based on successful Emerson 970 family of liner lock knives
designed by custom knife maker Ernest Emerson. This knife is a direct
result of input from Benchmade customers, and what features they wanted
most in a heavy duty automatic knife.
The most widely requested feature was the model 975 blade but with the
time proven automatic opening mechanism of our AFO (Model 9000) with
the addition of a pocket clip as a standard feature. The handle slabs
are solid G-10 which gives the knife a very solid secure feel as well
as being nearly indestructible.
